This is the world I’ve been building for ttrpgs, fun, and eventually some stories for the past few months. Despite the constant procrastination it’s been a ton of fun. The is steampunkeque that is largely controlled by a trading group and culture called the Moche.

I’d love some questions and criticisms to help me flesh Drio out.

Hey! I really like the overall shape of your world! And I’m pretty fond of the location names you picked. Is there any inspiration behind them from our world or literature maybe?

Also, since you’ve mentioned the Moche being a trading group I suppose there’s a lot of of traveling involved. Are there any popular and/or safe ways to travel by land and sea?

      Heya, thanks for the response.

As for the names I have a whole (overly complicated system). Basically each language in my world is a mix between multiple real world dead languages. I use chatgpt or open assistant (ik that using ai in worldbuilding is controversial but all the names are still mine) to generate words in the dead languages then smash them together. Sometimes i’ll have a word or phrase that I have it translate and then combine and shrink until it’s one word. To me, this is easier than conlanging but still original and fun.

The Moche own, operate and control most land and sea routes of trading. They have the best build ships and their caravans can stretch for miles.

      Which Islands? The whole word?

The Moche didn’t really colonize the world but they do control much of the world’s trading routes. They reach agreements with nations that allow them to be the sole traders of certain goods, control passes and canals, etc but they haven’t directly colonized the world. They also have outposts (either entire towns/cities or just buildings in normal cities) all over the world.

Hi! I know this is almost 3 weeks old, but we need community engagement or else there’s no community

I see some large mushrooms on the western coast, north of Tzamlitr. If I journeyed there, what would I see? Just a normal forest but with tall mushrooms instead of pine trees? A normal plain with mushrooms instead of grain?

Where is the tallest mountain? What is the furthest point from which I can still clearly see it’s peak (assuming it’s noticeably taller than its neighbors)?

      Hi! Thanks for the reply.

The mushroom forest area I’m picturing as a dark, dense forest of both old old trees and fungi. The area is generally inhabited (except for a few hermits and rumors of dark forces…) due to how remote and hostile it is.

I haven’t made a specific tallest peak but I picture it being somewhere in the range between Arurufiviia and the desert nations. I suspect it will be seen for miles around.

Currently I’ve slowed work on this part of the world and began creating a small group of islands East of the scope of the map. It’s an isolated area but in the next Savage Worlds campaign I run it will be invaded/colonized by the Moche people.

Cool! Does anyone have any myths or legends about the tallest peak? A slumbering creator deity or source of life?

Do the Vikraghallan city states bicker about petty things like how streets should be laid out? Do they agree on some uniform currency or system of measurement?

I’ve only heard of Savage Worlds, but never looked into it; I’ve only run D&D 5e and Call of Cthulhu 7e

People know of it and have named it. A summit has been attempted multiple times, all ending in death. The Moche (basically a trading group, company and culture that have a profound impact on the entire world) have had thoughts of using an airship to land on top of the peak as a publicity stunt but there isn’t a powerful enough lift gas (fermented manure’s fumes) to get the ships that high up.

The Vikraghallen states are at constant war with each other: forming new alliances, breaking said alliances and ousting leaders quicker than the news can carry it. So no, they can’t agree on currency and those things (the economy being so bad it’s fully invaluable to anyone doesn’t help the fact) at all.

Take a look into Savage Worlds if you want. It’s an amazingly simple system that is also insanely versatile.
