So I know some hair may be donated for the making of hairpieces or the like, but…I don’t imagine the same can be done for shavings/trimmings, nor do I imagine most cut hair is donated…
Is there like a massive hairball section of waste treatment facilities for shaved/trimmed hair?
biodegradable, perfect for landfill already
Here I go on my soapbox. Landfilling stuff is so bad because you can’t use that highly plastic polluted soil, please consider composting or getting community/company compost to pick it up
Some cities / municipalities also do “thermal treatment” aka mainly burning/incarcerating the normal non-recyclable household waste. Depends on where you live.
But I have to agree. Compostable stuff should get composted. Not end in a landfill mixed together with lots of problematic materials.
Yeah, put that trash in prison!
lol. thanks for pointing that out… minor differences… I’m not going to edit it, I got most of the characters in the word right.
Edit: Although… If someone works in law enforcement, please do pay attention to those subtle differences while dealing with prisoners.
It all ends up in my shower drain.
Cause there’s no way that’s all mine.Any chance you also receive the lost socks?
I’m confused by the question. Do you think trash gets separated or something?
No stupid questions is the name of the community.
I’m not calling it stupid. Just curious.
Sorry, I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to focus on shaved/trimmed hair vs. cut hair when asking, but shaved’s more of what I was wondering about, as I think that’s often washed/flushed away?
I also thought it was a fun mundane question about something one otherwise may not think much about.
Are you a hairless cat? lol
Besides landfilling, it also makes good compost due to the high nitrogen content.
I compost mine. It felt weird at first, but now I leave it out next to the pile and the birds can use it for nests.
Please don’t do that.
Human hair: According to Gordon, human hair is a triple threat for birds: It’s long, thin, and strong. These characteristics can be a deadly combination, allowing the hair to easily ensnare a bird’s leg or wing and sever it. “You can wrap [hair] around your finger and cut your circulation off,” she says.

Huh… Guess I’ll bury it in the pile then.
What weird ass species has killer hair?!?
I heard about this project on the radio. They felt the hair and turn it into absorption mats.
Are you talking about at barber shops?
