Every year for over a decade has been the hottest on record. And that’s not going to change till our societies change

Only problem? If everything stopped today, we’d see increases in temps for 20 more years.

The article says that 2016 was the previous hottest year on record, so I am not sure what you mean by your first sentence. I do agree with your second sentence though.

and sadly nobody gives a shit. To further demonstrate the level of idiocy I give you the quote of one of the chancellor candiates in germany after a century flood:

You don’t change policy just because now we have a day like this

And because of this we do not change enough, fast enough, because there are still idiots in charge who think we can relax and have still a lot of time or deny it completely…

Having a century flood once a century is no cause for change. Having them every few years… well the idiots will just bitch about the infrastructure needing improvement (but don’t you dare raise their taxes for that).

Here’s what blows my mind. A once in a century storm would imply that, more likely than not, the place is going to experience one during your lifetime. And that’s ignoring climate change

How is that the standard to build things to? That’s insane!

Am I the only one reading the headline as blaming climate change on climate change?

Earth just had its hottest year on record - and higher temperatures are to blame

Earth just had its hottest year on record - and scientists always measuring everything are to blame

Yeah areas I’ve lived are getting massive snowfalls, checkmate global warming people! (Just don’t look at the summer temps or flood trends those don’t count)

Yeah we know. We, collective, just don’t have even a fraction of the money necessary to stop the rich assholes who are responsible for the overwhelming majority of it.
