Okay, so this has been bugging me for a long time… but what the heck was the deal with the tea jam scene in Episode 8 of GuP? (The bit where Darjeeling and Katyusha were drinking tea together at the start of the episode.) Does anyone know?
It’s a thing. In russia tea was (and is?) seldom consumed as is, but together with something else, jam, syrup, or even a sugar cube held between your teeth.
The jam thing depicted in episode 8 is specifically a thing which is considered “russian” tea by the Japanese.
