Hi!

I’ve been running a kratky-experiment with some basil in a 3l yogurt bucket and stonewool/clay substrate.

However, my household is quite succeptible to mold growth, so the substrate and the stone wool sadly received some white swaths.

How do I prevent/fight this? Removing the plant from the stone wool is probably impossible. I already got some H2O2, but I’d need to be careful not to hit the stem. Do you have any mitigation strategies/ideas?

Indoor mold is dangerous and difficult to get rid off once it’s nested in your walls. Ventilation and heating are essential, but you can (and should) also put up dehumidifiers near the sources of the humidity.

Maybe you didn’t check the community, but this is a hydroponics comm. The “source of the humidity” is the substrate for the plant. And I don’t want the pieces that should be drenched in water to get mouldy.

Why downvote the people trying to help you? Seems like they are just letting you know that you can’t really fix the mold in your hydro setup until you fix the mold in your house.

It’s like banging hoors without a condom and wondering why your dick keeps burning when you pee. Fix the base problem first and the secondary problem will go away.

I don’t think that it was actually a solution to my problem. Mold spores are in the air, no matter how much you ventilate.

They replied as if I had a general mold problem. But “keep everything dry” is not a viable solution in a hydro setup.

Also, I don’t appreciate the tone of your crass example. Quite derogatory towards sex workers.
