In a nutshell, my Nintendo account used an old email that is now deleted, so I’m unable to reset my password. I have contacted support about this, but apparently my account does not exist? (Perhaps, due to the non-functional email, my account is no longer on Nintendo’s servers while the game data is still available locally. And indeed, trying to access the eShop does not work)

I am still able to play my games while retaining game data, but it’s essentially locked in my old Switch, since my account is inaccessible. Is it possible to transfer game data between my old Nintendo account to a new one, or alternatively, transferring game data to a (Linux) computer to be used in an emulator or something?

Another question, if I was to reset the system memory while moving most of my game data to a microSD card that I remove beforehand, could I transfer my game data like that, or is there Nintendo proprietary nonsense requiring the correct account/user to access that game data?

I tried that, it doesn’t work. For security reasons, that’s probably for the better to be honest, but a bit annoying for me

That is actually quite sensible of the mail provider. You could check back every now and then to see if you ran out the cooldown period on the address. Maybe they don’t block it forever.

    https://www.nintendo.com/sg/support/switch/secondary/transfer.html

How to carry out the save data transfer
On the HOME Menu of each console, select “System Settings” → “Data Management” → “Transfer Your Save Data” and follow the on-screen instructions.

    • You can only make a single selection. (Save data is transferred one item at a time.)

The Switch doesn’t support putting save data on SD cards. It’s always local on the console, or in their cloud service.

If you can’t get the above to work, jailbreak is the next answer.

Unfortunately, that method only works if both accounts are the same, and it also needs an additional Switch. :(

My switch is a “v2” revision so software hacking doesn’t work

do you know when your switch got manufactured? afaik older models can be jailbroken and that might help with data extraction…

Unfortunately mine is a “V2” Switch that can’t be exploited through software means

It used to be a legit company till they got taken over by bankers as CEOs instead of people who cared about the craft.

      Everyone should boycott them!

        Nintendo presidents background:

        • Civil Engineering/Construction
        • Construction (I think?)
        • Nepotism/No background (this was the president that turned the company into the Nintendo we knew…this only happened because of someone with a background as an Electrician)
        • Computer Science
        • Finance
        • Accounting and Marketing (but allegedly grew up playing Nintendo games)

        If we look at NOA:

        • Civil Engineering/Nepotism?
        • [Finance – same dude as above]
        • Economics/Marketing
        • Communications/Business

I think the favourite periods of Nintendo were when we had Mr. Nepotism with the Electrician as the brains of Nintendo, but even when the Electrician left (with Mr. Nepotism without that same right-hand man), that time period is looked upon fondly.

The other peak Nintendo time was when we had the Computer Science major in Japan and the Economics/Marketing guy in the US. I guess people love American marketing!

        Really oversimplifying things here though.
