I agree, there is an emotional distance and lack of feedback/consequence that may factor in. I was trying to imagine if a crowded coffee shop in a city made people wear name tags if they would be less inclined to act rudely (e.g, cut lines, hold table spots before ordering, pollute recycle bins, etc) and perhaps it would but I’m not sure how.
