    I’m also not a fan of the redesign, but you can always voice activate/dismiss it? Which is perfect scenario for when your hands are dirty.

    Maybe I missed something in the article and this option is not viable for the writer.

      Author talks specifically about professional cooks that are not able to do that because of noise. It’s an interesting perspective since it sounds like previous Timer iterations were quite transformative to mundane part of that profession.

        I’d be quite surprise if it doesn’t work. I set timers on my watch with the radio on full blast, and the kids yelling at me.

        I agree with the author’s main point, however that the resdesign is a bit of a train wreck

          Yeah, one thing Siri seems to be oddly good at is isolating your voice from other noise - even when speaking at a normal volume.

    One of the few things I use Siri for is set timers when cooking. I have a very basic iWatch and it’s just a fumble fest for my clumsy ass trying to do anything with my giant hands. So I yell at it instead. Works oddly well. But yeah, would be nice if it wasn’t so clunky and obviously this isn’t always feasible in a loud kitchen.
