Hello everyone!

Since I’ve been very rusty lately, mainly due to my totally pointless, time consuming and life sucking assignments university, I decided to start 2026 by focusing on improving something. So I decided I want to go back to fundamentals, and work on value painting 🥲

To fight my own demons, which keep me locked in the prison of my comfort zone, I came up with an idea.

I started creating 30-minute grayscale images every day until the end of February. If you want, you can join me, and if not, IGNORE THE CALL FOR IMPROVEMENT.

Just remember not to spam the main community board, you can post your work in the comments section, and I’ll be happy to see some of it!

    IGNORE THE CALL FOR IMPROVEMENT.

Ok, I can’t ignore it any more. (๑﹏๑//)

I will join you, soldier, here’s what I could manage in aprox 50 min.

Not grayscale action but some gesture studies. Reference was video of a sumo match from a few days ago. Missed a couple of better “keyframes” but I think action is readable.

Yoo, looks pretty neat! Great gestures! I also had idea to instead of practicing on images / during coffe break or in pub, I could practice from sparring videos but… I forgor. Thank for reminding me about that!

Awesome! Hey,let me make a suggestion, if you are in a pub practice referencing the people right there!, it’s also challenging, (and a challenge being discreet) but being on your toes like that helps improving very fast! Takes a while getting comfortable with it, but it’s worth a shot.

People tend not to move that much so it’s more for gesture, and mixing it up with videos is good as well. Sparring videos are a great idea, I’m gonna steal it.
