Can we talk more about deceptive patterns? I had my computer go down recently, and I was reminded just how bad mobile is.
Pick a game at random and I’ll show you a dozen direct and intentional manipulations to get you into the habit and environment they want you to be in for optimal resource extraction. I miss when games were an artform rather than a human habit adjusting set of professionally designed manipulations that can annoy you into the right mindset to give money. Not to mention the advertisements which range from absolute fabrication to actual scam.
Seriously. Dark patterns are the bane of my existence. And this isn’t exclusive to mobile games, but mobile games in my opinion are some of the most nefarious due to the way they constantly try to “reward” players for taking certain actions designed to get you to interact with their stupid fuckin currencies, which are also designed to disassociate from real money, all to get you thinking it’s ok to give up some of your hard earned cash to level up a fuckin stick or some stupid shit.
Ur just mad that my stick can glow man
I agree so much. The game I mention was fun and simple when it launched, and they keep enshittifying more and more with this rot. The interface is nothing but a huge wall of dancing meaningless icons.
we are all waiting for your non shittified game to drop. how’s the progress going? or we’re just complaining for the clicks.
