They never went down. But they finally got some bugfixes that made them playable. Hackers and matchmaking issues had made the game unplayable. Only hardcore PC players could use the custom modded northstar servers… But now that the vanilla servers actually work, even console players can play again.

Respawn has been dropping actual updates. For example, private lobbies had gotten left in beta, and now finally got properly released!
