I have done lot’s of backpacking. Always paid for it myself. I was a “pore” European student and I always felt rich being in Asia.

Yep. It’s a privileged existence for many of us that we have the means and opportunity to travel the world. It’s immediately apparent when visiting some countries that our currency takes us a long way, and that (beyond local customs) haggling etc over what to us is a few cents is disgraceful. To beg in these places? Jfc.
