They are supporting him, especially owners of newer teslas, like the cyber truck. There are other ev options and are all arguably better than a tesla.

This is correct, and (get ready to disagree) at one point Tesla made quality cars. My friends have some from before the pandemic, and they’re great. Even their self driving works well.

The problem is that the world’s richest man (AFAIK) owns Tesla and has done his best to fuck everyone who isn’t also a billionaire over, hard. He’s ruining the USA, and impacting the rest of the world through his actions.

It’s natural for people to take it out on the symbols of him that they see daily.

Tesla needs to divest itself from him but I don’t think it can, and if it could I suspect it is too late now anyway.

My friends are considering Lucid brand cars to replace their Teslas.

Idk I think the current inertia of people vandalizing teslas will hurt teslas sales more than anything else. Collateral damage sucks in every conflict, but it is feasible that this collateral damage may be considered acceptable by some.

Even if there was a person who could get over or even liked elon’s idiocy, they would probably think twice before buying a tesla because of the idea of it getting vandalized.

Imma be honest, people having cars vandalized is not even remotely relevant harm.

“Tesla owners arent the enemy.” If the end user experiences any losses well I suppose they should set their sights on the person responsible for the harm: Elon Musk. Sue him for creating a public necessity to vandalize his properties, and shut up about how mean it is to spray paint swastikas on someone’s car.

If you’re making payments, you’ve got enough equity in that car to sell it and buy a used car until you’ve saved enough to purchase a new, non-nazi manufactured car. If you own outright, the car has certainly not depreciated below 10k and you will still be able to afford a car that is not tesla. For now.

If you wait to be the last off the boat, well, I cant say that you will maximize your trade in value, but thats on you for not acting sooner. I will not mourn the losses of Tesla owners while the US government is dismantled as a direct result of robber barons purchasing the public square.
