I did a poll some time ago about gender.

The results, as of now:

  • Male: 9
  • Genderqueer or nonbinary: 4
  • Female: 0
  • Other: 3

Although I was expecting there to be less women than men due to gender bias in tech stuff, I didn’t expect there to be so few women. I guess @meloo@lemmy.perthchat.org was right when they speculated that Lemmy’s feminism pages are probably mostly men.

The amount of genderqueer/other people is also surprisingly high. I guess maybe there’s just lots of people who don’t identify as a binary gender but still present that way in real life, so the observed amount is much higher online than in real life? It’s still surprising that there’s almost as many genderqueer/other people as men, despite there being barely any women.

I’m a man and I volunteered to mod the feminism community, but that’s as much to just keep the lights on.
