Probably prevents soft modding
Not long ago a browser exploit popped up that ultimately allowed for down grading versions all the way back to other os support and enabling custom firmware support. I used it to throw cfw 4.2 on it.
Imagine if this update bricked your console, Sony just shrugs and calls it a day
Will it restore the ability to install Linux on it again?
There’s was a newer exploit that worked well for me. I have a late gen 40 gig that had 4.2 on it and the exploited has me now running custom firmware
Sony does something good, unbelievable.
Just wait. It probably deleted a feature, and patched a bug… used by modders or something.
The system software update 4.92 improves system performance, according to the patch notes, and also renews the Blu-ray player encryption key to allow for disc playback.
Usually they use the term “improves system stability” when they block exploits, but yeah…
Like the 3ds that was on life support for years and they just kept patching exploits. In the end homebrew won.
