Sure… let’s theorize on concepts of peace keeping froces by European countries. As if that was relevant because Russia had any interest in stopping…

Yeah, I genuinely don’t understand the point of peace talks when one side doesn’t want peace.

Putin does want peace. He wants his peace though, which is unacceptable for Ukraine and (I hope!) most people in the EU.

Depicting the issue of how this conflict should be resolved as a binary “peace” vs “war” choice (as some do both among those who support Ukraine and those who’d like to seem them capitulate) is of no use.

Putin desperately needs a couple of years of peace to regroup and rearm. Also, a “peace” would bring back trade and drop sanctions. He’s on his heels militarily and economically. Sure, he can keep going like this, but the stalemate is draining the country’s men and rubles.

Makes me so goddamned mad that we (the US) could have easily kicked Putin’s ankles out from under him if we had gone whole hog in supporting Ukraine. This should have been over a year or more ago.

Trump is Putins puppet and he tries to bring Ukraine to give Russia land, in exchange for ending the war. So yes Russia wants peace. The problem is that Russia has shown that peace with them so far, just meant a longer ceasefire. Hence peace keeping forces.

@misk #Zelenski felt wat the rest of Europe has been facing for decades and why we turned towards Russia for energy, extortion repackaged as protection. #Ukraine has to make a full u-turn towards Europe and cut ties with the the US and we’ll probably be there in no time. But of course our leaders don’t want to take a risk for a country that still seeks to be allied with a totalitarian regime in the process of declaring war upon the EU. If they sell out to to the US those minerals will be used to weaken the EU economy and take us back to a Berlin wall situation. Singing a deal with the current USA is a sure way for Ukraine to become a sovjet state again absurd as it is. I think Zelenski still is in in cognitive dissonance and believes the US will become a democracy again, a lot of Americans believe the same. But voting is fixed folks, even without Trump there will be a regime.
