I don’t see a setting in Signal for quick replies, but when I tap the text box to write a message in Signal, I keep getting a “quick reply” shortcut hovering, with the app logo, “Why?”, and an X to close it.
Is this a Signal feature or Android 15 reading the text and generating a potential reply? It’s not my keyboard (Unexpected Keyboard) as far as I can tell, haven’t seen this pop up in any other text entry field yet.
This may come from the Enhanced Notifications setting?
I already have Enhanced Notifications turned off in Android settings. Just to clarify, this little popup is appearing in the Signal app above the text entry field, and not in an Android notification. I’ll add a picture (can’t easily get a screenshot, obviously 😉)
Of course, now that my SO is home with their phone that I can use to take a picture of my screen… I can’t get the popup to appear. I’ll return with a picture if it happens again. “Why?” appeared as a potential response to a few Signal messages even when it didn’t contextually make a whole lot of sense. Gemini, is that you? I thought I disabled you as much as possible…
It’s always safe to assume that Google doesn’t actually turn off services that you tell it to turn off.
Yeah… Wish I could afford something decent and put GrapheneOS on it… though the supported devices seem to have pitiful amounts of storage, too, because why not just put everything in Google’s cloud? 😑
