They own money printers and can’t figure out how to turn them on. God you don’t even have to make good games, just okay ones. Hogwarts was an okay game and it printed money for them. (Seriously why no dlcs? Just more money printing)
The shadows games weren’t perfect, but they were fun. A lot of games were fun but mid. They just have to get their executive hands out of the creative pot and just let the creative folks do what they fucking do. No micro transaction, no live service, no boring ass story because you’re afraid it might scare away some players. Just let them make a mid level game.
But nope. All their shitty ideas didn’t work so better to shutter the studios
With so many big name DC heroes, you’d think we’d be getting big budget games about them constantly, but outside of the Batman Arkham games we don’t have much to show for it in recent history.
Marvels got a whole bunch of cool stuff in progress: Wolverine, Captain America, Black Panther games. On top of its successful Spider Man games, and they hit Marvel Rivals that just launched. But its crickets from DC.
DC can’t just pick a damn batman actor, or be consistent with their movie stories. They just keep rebooting. They keep shooting themselves in the foot.
It’s kinda hard when the literal perfect voice for Batman (who already played the character in like 95% of every production for 20+ years) passed away in 2022.
I agree, we should try to figure out who the next best staple voice could be, but it’s also hard when the fans don’t usually want to give new voices a chance. That said I think Hamish Linklater (Batman: Caped Crusader) and Bruce Greenwood (Young Justice) are really good contenders for the role.
According to a lot of developers, it’s apparently damn near impossible to make a good superhero game. I’ve heard it justified as needing to find the right balance between gameplay and character power level.
Like it’s kinda tricky to make a lore-accurate Superman game, but people like me enjoyed Superman Returns back in the day for what it was.
So the execs make wrong decisions and employees pay the price. A story as old as the fucking capitalism. Fuck WB.
Years of work, meetings and sleepless nights worrying about how to move forward on the many design and implementation decisions, the family sacrifices, all for shit.
Hug your kids, kiss your partner and fuck work.
I have friends at some of these studios…sucks. Wishing the best for the homies.
“NOTE: Wonder Woman died on the way back to Themyscira.”
And the only thing that will come of this is the announcement trailer.
