    It’s way too early to have the details ironed out at this moment.

    The important thing is to put on the table what European is capable of, when the new US administration’s negotiating method is to act all big and tough, then deflate like a balloon (completely with the pfffbfbtbtbtbt sound).

    The first thing to do is to largely rule out ‘peacekeeping’ as it is classically understood, as both a function and a euphemism for a deployment. Peacekeepers are normally impartial, operate with the consent of all parties and are intended to separate combatants.

    I’ve written basically this text a ton of times online regarding people talking about peacekeeping (usually in response to people who have the idea that the UN has an army sitting around somewhere and the soldiers are just called “peacekeepers”).
