Hang onto your butts! Because I think I still can. The expression isn’t quite right yet. It’s amazing how the tiniest little bits completely change an entire expression. He looks more worried and less annoyed than he should. But it’s totally Samuel L. Jackson!!!

May I ask your medium? Out of interest.
I use Sketchbook by Autodesk on my phone mostly, every Sammy has been on my phone. I also have it on a tablet connected to a PC but I rarely drag all of that out to paint. If I could figure out a way to sync my work between them I’d probably use the PC more.
The brushes I use are oil painting brushes. I start sketching with a pencil brush, then block out colors with a simple round brush, then I use oil brushes the rest of the way.
Edit: I also add a small bit of randomness to the colors which I think is the best trick to keep it from looking flat and boring.

Even your first painting in the series was recognizably him. You’re right about the expression, although I sure can’t point to what tiny detail doesn’t match.
