    I am surprised MS went through with publishing this. I guess their partnership with the Carnegie Mellon University meant that hiding this report wasn’t a viable option.

      MS Research publish all sortsa shit that might not go down well with the company, but they do hire some seriously smart people so keeping 'em sweet is better than having them jump to Google

    Ever since deepseek came along with something people could recreate at home there has been a trend of ai tech bros warning about ai.

    Don’t get me wrong, its probably true that blind trust lowers critical thinking but the end goal for tech bros has never been everyone having their AI.

    Its them getting a swarm of ai agents to dominate the global economy while we have “fun” fighting the other commoners from the political other side in the dirt.

    Copilot and its many version are the most blatant form of this. Microsoft wants to collect data on how to do your job so they can simulate your labor in a few years.

    That is why this narrative is pushed. Not because its a lie but because tech enthusiasts dismissing ai potential is in their interests. Some might learn to build open source tools that helps people, empowered people are a threat.
