Psyduck is so relatable. Just a simple duck, who’s intelligent enough to understand how fucked the world is, but also intelligent enough to know there’s not a damn thing he can do about crippling depression, and oppression of the masses into life swallowing poverty.
And he has the empathy to feel how dragged down the weight of the world is around him. He knows that people are having a hard time, and they look to pokemon to feel better. They’re looking to HIM to feel better. Oh man. That’s a lot of pressure.
People can’t buy homes, health insurance is being denied, we’re on the edge of world war 3, and all anyone wants is a reason to smile, and now they look at psyduck, to cheer them up. One simple pokemon with anxiety and mental health issues is now being asked to lift the weight of the world, as it comes crushing down on us all. And I can relate to that.
