I am on the Internet via a data harvesting device. Someone, somewhere is harvesting my data. I may as well enjoy what I am doing while having it harvested. And at this point I trust the Chinese Government (who does not own Bytedance) more than I trust the US Government.
The CCP is an incredibly shady and oppressive government, and while they may not legally own Bytedance, the distinction is irrelevant because they have access to absolutely everything, necessarily, by Chinese law. There are government agents who are legally required to be hired in their offices. And if you think the only things they know about you are your personal interests, you are sorely mistaken.
Also privacy is not a binary concept. Just because some entities are able to harvest some of your data does not mean you should freely give absolutely all of your data to every company.

Well, that’s an incredibly naive position.
