I had signed up for a fediverse service (i think it was pixelfed) but i forgot the name of the server. I was hoping i could look at newest items instead of launching every item i do not immediately recognize.

No, the vault is always sorted alphabetically by name. You’ve just gotta use folders to sub-divide categories and work from there. Doesn’t help you now, but planning for the future…
You could try searching your browser history chronologically for a website that sounds like the one you’re looking for
