It was fine nothing broken but I was bit scared when I saw it.

thats understandable… if you think this is the scariest thing that happened to the bike while being transported you’ve never spoken in detail to baggage handlers. there isn’t exactly a rigorous intelligence test or an “actually give a shit” test you need to pass to get the job.

just to say, the arrows you drew on the box are pretty faint (not that you should have to do it at all)

It is printed on it and I don’t understand why this happened - you have the handles which are the best way to handle it.

i know, i know, the handles would be enough for most folks… and all the text… this has gone into the “I do not give a shit” category I think…

this other person in this thread is insisting that the workers are fully competent and dutiful, and the only reason this has happened is because the management pushes them to work beyond what could be considered reasonable (which is essentially certainly also true, but I don’t believe is the sole cause of bags getting fucked from five feet away upside down)

The workers are highly competent given the appropriate amount of time, however, they are beyond rushed by management and risk their livelihood if they aren’t.

OK… I’ve known people who do this and that is not how I’d describe how a lot of them come at their jobs, but it is exactly the kind of sentiment I’d expect to read on lemmy

And I’ve known people who do this too, and I can confirm they’re highly competent and rushed. You’re saying that you are know people that, given enough time they cannot lower a box to the ground without damaging it? Sounds like they should be on some disability instead of working. Also, I’m glad you’re seeing this sentiment here! A lot of what I see on social media doesn’t consider the person that is working and only the work.

yeah yeah, workers good bosses bad (and please do understand I generally concur with that sentiment in a very sincere way) but looooots of people do not give a shit about doing their jobs well and it isn’t only cause working conditions suck

I am having a hard time believing that. You compensate them well enough, they care. Ask anyone that “do not give a shit” if they’d care more about their job if they were paid 50x their wage and didn’t have toxic business practices. There is a line, it’s just they’ve just never seen a job that hit the bar.
