@bleistift2@addie Wayland will be the only display server, it’s impossible to deny it, for example KDE defaults to Wayland & Gnome is 100% detached from X11, the deletion of X11 is coming in the future
plus, X11 is full of spaghetti code and no one, and I mean no one, supports it anymore, Wayland came to correct that, plus if you have a laptop with a hybrid GPU, you must switch manually between for example Nvidia & Intel, on Wayland everything is done automatically, etc
@bleistift2 I recently contacted the EOS support on their forum because the gaming performance is different pre-SSD to post-SSD death, they mistakingly adviced me to install tools like EnvyControl to switch the GPU, after switching to Nvidia only, no game could run, but on hybrid, the majority of my games ran & using mangohud and their own settings, the Nvidia was used
@bleistift2 why I am throwing pre-SSD & post-SSD death? it’s because at 17 October, my SSD totally died without warning, I tried everything, even trying a data restore company, 100% dead, so I bought a new SSD, just avoid Patriot SSDs like Corona (I was about to write the plague but Corona is more recent)

Wayland isn’t a display server, it is a protocol. There is no source code for Wayland only a set of standards.
That is something I really care about. Thanks!
[Edit: I just checked. Something is handling the switch automatically on my system]
