How do we fight this? On one hand we have a community to talk about how we hate (the current implementation of) AI and on the other hand we have thousands of images created, shared, liked, and taken as the truth.

Do we share and support legislation that would limit or prohibit certain use of AI? Are there ways to filter or highlight AI content and have them sued them for copyright infringement?

Like, neither of those options sound appealing but I’m not sure how to actively fight back against all this mediocre slop.

For Facebook specifically, they’ve constantly been in the crosshairs of government regulators for (amongst other things) anti-competitive practices, privacy violations and so on (and that list only goes to October 2021).

Up to now they’ve escaped any serious consequences for their many violations of the law, broken regulations, and ignored consent decrees, and thus have been allowed to grow unchecked as a result. Simply enforcing the laws as written back in the day would have helped. Now? I have no idea. Legal enforcement will not be coming any time soon.
