A potential plan by Republican leaders to steal the 2024 presidential election. The plan involves delaying the certification of election results in key battleground states, potentially decreasing the overall number of electors appointed and allowing Donald Trump to win the presidency through a contingent election, whereby the House of Representatives, not the Electoral College, determines the president.
An actual coup like this would deserve an actual counter coup in response. Whatever form that takes.
Lol…I was in the process of writing a similar comment. Articles like these worry me that this coup is going to result in the very real loss of American lives. History will prove this man as one of the worst in the world.
Loss of life would be tragic, of course, awful. I think people could be put in the very real, very dangerous situation where they’ve been abandoned by the captured court, and the fascists are installing themselves on a perversion of the law, and the freedom of all Americans is at stake. Not just freedom, like we’ve seen with abortion bans, and increasingly violent rhetoric, it will be lives at stake.
When you’ve been put in that position what can you do? The courts won’t care, the republicans won’t care, and if they take over like this it will be permanent. Dark fucking days ahead.
And let’s not pretend a coup in America wouldn’t have ramifications abroad either.
SCOTUS ruled that the president can do whatever he wants and that means he should use that power to remove the 6 conservative judges, Trump, and the others attempting a coup on the nation. Using the power to stop a real coup would be looked upon favorably in the future, but Biden won’t because he still thinks that there is some kind of middle ground that can be reached with Republicans.
Fuck it man, just clean house before you retire.
But he won’t.
Unfortunately, neoliberals (diet-conservatives) that run the Dem party don’t like to get their hands dirty or rock the boat. Biden cannot take extreme measures to defend democracy because that’s just not how neoliberals function.
This is what happens when we don’t marginalize conservatism. Historically, there has never been a peaceful solution to an infection of unchecked conservatism. The only known treatment has always been delivered by force.
