Tesla has surprised consumers again, as revealed by Edmunds' recent Model 3 test. The car, in Performance configuration, beat the EPA estimated range in real-world testing by the publication.
“How accurate is that EPA-estimated driving range for my EV? Consumer Reports found about half of EVs fall short of their EPA-estimated driving ranges. while some EVs outperformed”
1% better than the estimate using their methodology sounds like it’s within a margin of error.
But this is comparing real world test to the numbers. How close are they for other cars?

Looks like some underperform by 50 miles and some over perform by 70 miles. So not really newsworthy when a Tesla beats the estimated range by 1%.
In that case, yes, it does seem that way. Sometimes those treat cycle numbers are consistently off and/or even completely fake.
