The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension is a quirky sci-fi adventure that follows the multi-talented Buckaroo Banzai, a neurosurgeon, physicist, rock star, and adventurer, as he discovers a way to travel to the 8th Dimension. Along with his band of loyal sidekicks, the Hong Kong Cavaliers, Buckaroo finds himself in the middle of an interdimensional battle to stop the evil Red Lectroids from taking over Earth.
As Buckaroo juggles saving the planet, performing with his band, and romancing Penny Priddy, the stakes get increasingly bizarre. With its mix of science fiction, action, and offbeat humor, this cult classic is a wild ride full of absurd moments, zany characters, and over-the-top 80s style.

Definitely second this. This is one of the few movies I’ve always made sure to own a copy of across multiple formats. It’s not great “cinema” but damn if it’s not one of my favorite movies of all time.
I have a special edition DVD with on screen comments. At the very start of the movie Buckaroo gets into the Jetcar with a briefcase. The comments tell us that it contains a tuna fish sandwich and Einstein’s brain.
