Wewt! I know someone who works there and he’s been saving his money for months now, preparing for the strike. He’ll be ecstatic if he doesn’t have to strike.

Edit: I just asked him. They’re still negotiating. They want at least 40% raises, more PTO, and their pensions back. It seems wild to me that they would turn down a 25% raise, but what do I know? I’m not union. That said, the biggest raise I’ve ever received is 6%, so 25% seems huge. I can definitely understand fighting to get their pensions back.

They are basically in a once in a lifetime position with all leverage on their side. While the pay increase is great, they had some specific provisions they wanted to be restored after the last contract, during which the company asked them to take huge benefit cuts due to economic crisis. The article is vague about that, so it’s likely to depend on those specifics.

Yeah, the person I know is filling me in on that right now. Boeing is definitely still being greedy, and a strike still seems likely. With the 25% raise comes the loss of their annual performance bonus, so it’s not actually 25% at all. Fucking greedy shits! (Boeing, not the workers)
