I just got flashbacks of watching that movie years ago. As I’ve gotten older, for some reason I’ve been getting more emotional when watching movies and shows. Like, straight up crying and shit. This movie destroyed me when I was younger and I can’t even imagine what it’d do to me now. I don’t know if I have it in me to watch it again, but I’m glad they are releasing it somewhere online because it’s a good movie. I just might need to invite a friend over for emotional support.

For some reason I’m fucked in the head and I can’t cry, I watched that movie hoping it would punch through and instead it set like a 75 lb Stone directly on top of my heart for me to carry around for 3 weeks until I managed to process it.

Gorgeous movie. I highly recommend everyone watch it. I’m not going to go through that again.

        Why not both?

But for real though you don’t have to cry to feel something, obviously. If anything I think crying makes it easier to process. At least in my experience. But at the same time when I was growing up I was stuck in the “crying isn’t manly” mentality. Also keep in mind I was in highschool when I watched it the first time. So it was also a “I’m depressed so I wanna watch a sad movie to make me cry” kinda mood but didn’t cry either. It feels almost selfish in a way, which is probably why I didn’t. So if you’re fucked in the head, so was I back than. :)

This movie still fucked me up though… Great movie too.

You may enj-- you may appreciate Health’s “Don’t Try.”

Or possibly Mew’s “Comforting Sounds.” Really, just play the whole of Frengers. And/or My Morning Jacket’s Z.

The initial Japanese theatrical release of the film was paired with Hayao Miyazaki‘s My Neighbor Totoro as a double feature for Studio Ghibli.

Oh wow, that’s wild. I wonder which one they played first.

I remember reading an article about it and they played Totoro first, and then found that people would leave the theater and not watch the second movie.
