The state legislature is trying to make it harder for the people to have a say in their democracy. Vote “No!” Retain the right to amend the constitution, or else the bar will be set so high only the legislature will get to propose amendments!

That’s it. That’s the post. Drag your friends to the polls, too, while you’re at it.

I’ve been seeing a lot of vote yes signs in NE Ohio and have been getting a lot of spam texts as well. People need to get out and vote No and protect their right to amend the Constitution. Don’t forget early voting is an option too!

I collected signatures for the SB5 referendum. The current rules are difficult enough.

You can’t gerrymander a referendum. That’s why they want to kill it.

It’s a vote to consolidate power.

I drive through Medina county a lot and still I’ve only seen 2 yes signs and those were at in front of large farms. On the flip side I’ve seen maybe a dozen no signs, even in the countryside. For those not in the know, Medina county spawned Jim Renacci so the sign ratio is surprising.

The vote yes signs I’ve seen suggest the idea is to outright make it impossible to modify the constitution in a bid to fend off the possibility of rebuilding abortion access or introducing new gun control efforts

Funnily enough, some of the conservatives I know personally are planning on voting no out of fear that Issue 1 passing might backfire on them and activate the Dem voter base to the point they’d lose their majority in the state and a potentially useful tool to combat a theoretical Dem majority

Oh, well at least everyone agrees as to the fundamental point of the ballot measure, that’s not always the case!

You aren’t kidding! LaRose just tossed out half of the 220,000 signatures gathered to put recreational marijuana on the ballot
