Dungeon Meshi is a well liked manga and anime.
If you haven’t seen/read it, it’s fantastic and I highly recommend it. If you’re a fan, make sure to sub to the community here on Lemmy.
- The first season of the anime is available to stream on Netflix. A second season has been confirmed.
- Manga fan translations can be read on MangaDex
- Officially translated volumes in English are available from YenPress both in digital and physical distributions, for 7 and 15 US dollars respectively.
The one-shot chapter got a nice number of upvotes so here goes a higher-effort post.
This chapter can be read here. Unfortunately the early chapters of the fan-translated version are a bit rough, but it doesn’t miss anything critical (unlike the official translation, which manages to misgender a character).
Re-reading the chapter I’m realizing it has enough to fill an entire episode. In some adaptations it would have. Instead the first episode of the anime adapted a whole three chapters.
I remember instantly liking how expressive Marcy is when I first started reading the manga.
Something the anime never duplicated, is how the manga always has a moment where it goes full “cookbook” for a panel or two whenever the gang prepares a dish.
