    Holding your breath lowers your heart-rate

    Most professional penalty takers seem to hold their breath before a kick

    I have a suspicion most players taking a penalty would have similar heart rate charts during it

      I don’t think so, the stress levels can be enormous and some might have a way higher heart rate at that point. There’s a good reason why even star players are often wont to kick a crucial penalty in the stands (Beckham and Roberto Baggio immediately come to mind).
