I think it’s more that these days it’s pretty expensive to go to university in a lot of countries. So many of the people who go and don’t get anything out of it, are going to have increasingly limited chances to go at it again
Of course that’s just policy, they have free university education in Scotland, so it doesn’t have to be that way

I think that’s the point though, they’re catering to the kinds of producer/professional that you list AND people who might want to do something that might need all that memory (there are plenty of scientific and AI workloads could easily chew through that)
Apple is also in the situation where as a business they will want to gain OS market share, but without the advantage of the PC platform that anyone can build a PC to meet their exact needs. If they’re hypothetically incredibly successful at their goal but with just consumer targeting hardware available, they’re leaving market share on the table by not providing hardware to fill the more niche use cases.
Now they could have done the provide loads of options thing, but it’s Apple, so they do their normal thing and have basically this one configurable model to serve all the possible non-average-consumers who want a workstation out there

Just some additional context that not everyone has:
There was a propaganda campaign run by a chap named Matthew Elliott to make sure of the no outcome in the AV vote. Billboards with “baby needs a hospital not a voting system” and similar all over the country
That same chap was pretty instrumental in the Vote Leave campaign
Maybe I’m not awake enough yet but I’m still not seeing anything other than tiny human in a pod
Yeah I was gonna say, there’s basically juggalos in 2077, and I’m fairly sure I read that they existed in 2020 too
Edit: should have just clicked your link before responding, they are indeed in 2020

I’d say something like Seinfeld or Friends is probably it, there’s still channels showing reruns of these all day long across the world.
You’ve got to consider stuff that was popular and universal enough to get translated to many different languages and then still get rerun in those countries too

Unless I’m misunderstanding what you are referring to by signing:
FWIW, A source code leak would not typically also include signing keys unless explicitly included. At any large org, there is a good chance only a handful of people will have access to a given signing key. So it’s unlikely the method by which the code was accessed, would also provide access to signing keys

Right, maybe I’m not getting it, but why is split view suddenly a browser feature?
That’s very much the job a window manager should be handling
The severity of each level is different
I think matching wine glasses is relatively uncontroversial, but also understandable if kinda mismatched. A contingent of matching tumblers is also fine but you need the random pint glasses too at the very least. I maintain a fully matching set of mugs is a red flag
Only if it’s intentional, it can easily be caused by ignorance/incompetence too

I don’t really like watching video on my phone, so I’ll pretty much always go for the nearest bigger screen unless there’s no option to do that.
I honestly think most of the time I would just not watch the video rather than watch on my phone

To be fair, even the oldest in that cohort are too young to have voted in the referendum

I was originally gonna say Sigur Ros but that’s already been covered
My shout out goes to Niteworks then, who sadly did their farewell tour last year. One of my favourites:

I don’t really smoke anymore, but the smoking ban in the UK (no smoking indoors from 2007) created the concept of the smoking area outside a pub/club and some of my best friendships in life ultimately started in that Petri dish
A smoking area outside anywhere in the northwest of the UK about 10-15 years ago was just peerless in calibre

Yes, but also the minority is gonna be someone else next week

I think the Napoleonic “Never interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake” probably also applies here even though she’s not strictly doing that here
