Got 5 TAC-2’s (us) on the shelf and couple atari-usb adapters. So immortality angle is covered, thanks ;)
At least some tac2 models have a thin brass bar above the ball at the bottom of the shaft that can snap easily. They also have very inconsistent spring. They are tough, but I’ve broken a few by snapping that part.
True. One of those I had to repair with 8 spot welds between ball and shaft. Now plastic will break before the shaft.
