    I wonder why he’s not standing this time. Maybe he doesn’t want the embarrassment of losing a 9th parliamentary election. Or perhaps he wants to ensure he has to ties for an eventual return to the Conservative Party.

      With the Reform Party standing so many candidates and the Tories threatening to depose Sunak, it does feel like there is an attempt to wreck the Tories (from inside and out) that they’ll accept Farage riding in to save them.

      The Conservative Party is going to lose big. Far right parties split the conservative vote and use that threat to shift the conservatives right, without actually doing any of the hard work needed to make good policy. The conservatives are finding out that forcing bad policies through for political gain short term, damages their prospects long term. He doesn’t care. His goals are achieved and standing for election won’t further them.
