With 12 years between entries its going to be impossible to please everyone and live up to the hype.

With 3/vc/sa they came out fast enough that they could set a new standard and iterate on that along with the rest of the industry.

After 12 years if they make a modern game it may not feel like GTA, but if they stick to their roots it risks feeling dated.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. People still like GTA V, so if they essentially just up the graphics, they can basically sell the same game and make bank. With such a long time between releases, they’ll probably avoid taking risks on it.

I hope they do the VC, SA, IV thing and release a successor soon after. I’m thinking another Liberty City game with essentially the same engine and maybe a little extra simulation.

But no, they’ll probably milk the online component and not release another for 10+ years. If that’s the case, I’m not getting it, I don’t care about online whatsoever.

It’ll be interesting to see if this game looks like it’s absolutely amazing, or completely underwhelming. Will it be super ‘realistic’? Go back to the more stylized goofy stuff?

I’m surprised to find I’m just straight up not interested in GTA anymore. I’m not sure what changed, but I don’t even think I’ll be going out of my way to look at reviews for this next one.
