Hi ! Since this community is brand new, let’s get it started with the classic recommendations thread :-)

I haven’t read mangas in a while, and my favorite were (in no particular order)

  • Kenshin
  • Hunter X Hunter
  • GTO

I also liked one piece, but got out a few years ago and now catching up seems like quite a bit of work, and the start of Naruto before stuff got too weird.

Do you have good mangas to recommend for me ?

Thanks a lot :-)

A personal favorite manga of mine is Spy X Family. It’s about a spy who has to start a family as part of a mission only to adopt a telepath girl and marry an assassin. It’s really funny and wholesome.

might be a little less talked about but I recently stumbled upon this hidden gem called “RED: Living On The Edge” and it’s actually pretty good.

I can recomend two of my favorites: Full Metal Alchemist and Death Note.

The first one another user already talked about it. As for the Death Note: a boy finds a book from a Shinigami (a kind of god/Angel of death). The book as the property that if you write the name of a person in that book, the person will die. So the boy see the oprtunity to make the society better by killing all the bad guys, he is a real hero…or…is he not? It s really good.

I also recomend both anime adaptation, for FMA please see brotherhood version, it is the one that follows the manga. You will love the “nina” episode. And death Note has a great soudtrack.

Thanks for the recommendation, I read Death Note a while back, and while I really enjoyed the first part, the second part drags on IMHO.

Fullmetal alchemist is awesome, how did I forget to mention it?

I’d say give One Piece another shot, it’s long but it’s great the whole way through so it never feels like a slog.

Choujin X is a more recent one that’s super good, amazing art and interesting characters in a pretty mysterious world. It has an amazing first chapter and first volume in general, so give it a try!

Finally, I’d give Undead Unluck a shot. It’s gonna be an anime soon, but it keeps getting better and better in my opinion.

    Hope that helps!

I’ll give it another shot, just need to remember where I dropped it and find the chapter _

I added choujin X to the list, but cannot find undead unluck online, where do you read it?

Jujutsu Kaisen - It’s fast-paced and has decently creative powers; if you like shonen manga but don’t want the slow, textbook setup of shonen manga, this is a good read.

Chainsaw Man - Full of wacky and vulgar humor. Breaks the mold of normal shonen manga without trying to subvert the usual tropes, more like by being weird and doing its own thing.

Fullmetal Alchemist - If you haven’t read this, you should. Honestly, probably one of the few manga that get my gold star of approval. Great characters, great plot, sticks the landing, leaves you satisfied but wishing there was more.

Thanks for the recommendations, jujutsu kaizen is OK, but I find it doesn’t get me excited for the protagonists getting more powerful, which is a part I really enjoy in shonen manga.

I added chainsaw man to my list of mangas to read.

Fullmetal I have read already, just forgot to mention it.

I had Claymore recommended to me after reading Berserk. Other than having big sword it’s more like Witcher with women as leads. I enjoyed it and it is a completed series, so no endless haituses to keep you waiting.

And for those who liked Chainsaw man another work from the author is Fire Punch it is also a completed story about a guy who is on fire and punches people in an apocalyptic world where the Earth has frozen over. It’s a very crazy Manga and not for the feint of heart with how graphic it gets compared to Chainsaw man.
