For some clarity, I did not make the speakers, but attempted to match the wood as closely as I could for the credenza.
That tasteful chamfer around the record cubbies that jives with the bevel of the speakers tho.
That is a quality piece.
If you have more than one floor in your house your WiFi antenna are likely pointed improperly. The signal comes out of the sides so have some horizontal.
Middle vertical and outsides at 45 degrees
Not to mention you want the tweeters to be at ear level for the best listening experience. Unless they sit on the floor they’re just plain doing it wrong. Does this person not know anything?! /s
Who cares. This is some beautiful craftsmanship. Really like the design!
It is a single story home. I’m sure there is a more ideal setup, but it seems to be working fine for my brother’s purposes.
🤘👍
Sound & Fury isn’t the Sturgill Simpson album I’d have chosen, but any Sturgill Simpson is better than no Sturgill Simpson.
Excellent craftsmanship. I am highly jealous of that entire setup as I sit over here with my particle-board record player stand and my crappy 5-in1 Victrola turntable.
There are quite a few Sturgill albums in the house!
Beautiful work!very nice design too. Is the carcass all miter joints? That’s great skill. Did you glue them? Is there dowels or biscuits or anything holding them together?
The one I did is just glue on the miters but I wish I had the skills and tools to reinforce them
The outside corners are indeed all miter joints. In hindsight, I’d do splines. I did reinforce the bottom miters with dowels, but the top miters were tight enough that I felt comfortable with just glue.
Sick
Fantabulous.
The speakers and the player look authentically from last millennia. Are they? And what is that black monstrosity is doing breaking immersion of 80-s recreation?
The speakers are quite old, but the player is fairly new to my knowledge. The black monstrosity price was tough to beat at $free.99!
I used a BPC amp for years, because I got it for $45 at the thrift store. This year I finally replaced it with a Technics SA-C600, and I couldn’t be happier. It sounds amazing, looks good, and has every feature I need or will need.
Oh man, that’s beautiful! Will you make one for me? Please! I will give you lots of dollars! Lots and lots of dollars!
I do enjoy lots and lots of dollars. If you are serious and in the Midwest, let me know!
Darn! I am in the PNW. I have been looking for a high quality entertainment center though. Almost all of the ones commercially available now are junk. Overpriced junk.
Is that a credenza?
Like I see a gorgeous hi-fi cabinet, but…is that what a credenza is? I thought a credenza was basically the bottom cabinet of a dining room cupboard, without the upper hutch.
Hi Bixby: what’s the definition of a credenza?
That’s a good question that I don’t know the answer to. Credenza seems like the sexy marketing term, like how so much stuff is “mid century modern” now!
