and then him throwing/kicking it did it instead? Honestly my first thought was to agree with you - assumed those can detonate on time or remote as well, and it was going to pop either way.
He threw it out of the hole, which makes some sense to me. I’d assume these also have a time fuse or remote detonator, and probably do something similar.
