There was someone playing a song from Interstellar on the piano just now in Melbourne Central. It was beautiful! I was totally entranced, stopped my youtube, stopped eating, just sitting there totally caught up in it. I didn’t get to see them before they disappeared, wish I could’ve said thankyou.

Blarg. Very little sleep thanks to hole in the gutter making incessant drum noises. Really sick of this house.

First day of work since I got the lurgie. Managed fairly well.
    Fortunately it’s the quiet week.

    Downpipes cleared!

So some lessons learnt over the years…

    1. Fuck leaves and debris in gutters and putting it off
    2. Fuck too much water
    3. Right angles in downpipes can get fucked
    4. Use your ears to see hear if you’ve unfucked it
    5. Having no plumbing plan is bad and fucked. Write it down, all of it.

    :)

Wise words friend, our overflowing gutters kept waking us up during last night. Looks like one of them has rusted through as well.

Before anyone blames trees for existing I’d like to suggest a gutter guard to help keep leaf debris from clogging up the gutters themselves and any downpipes.

I swear on my mum’s life…if my neighbour is out watering today I’m dropping him.

He was out there with the hose yesterday at lunchtime.

I nearly did that with mine yesterday after his dog bit mine again for the second time in 2 years. I mean, it was a jack Russel vs a Kelpie, I like my dogs chances, but told him if it happens again his dog will have the honor of being the second dog in orbit cause I’m punting it at the sun.

Yep, his defense was “I only turned my back for a minute” but when the wife went over to play “Good cop” to my “Pull your head out of your fucking arse you C***!” cop, he admits the dog has issues. So why was it allowed out the front unsupervised at all?

Farm is different, not in public. Dog parks are generally fenced off, no?

Not having recall/control over a dog and letting is loose is irresponsible.

          Bang. There you go.

I knew an old bloke who bought a shop just so he could sit out the back and listen to the races without the wife nagging. She was forbidden from entering the shop. Fuck he hated customers.

              Not much.

Locals knew not to go in there because he never changed the oil but if you happen to stumble in there and ask for something other than fish n chips he’d yell DOES IT LOOK LIKE I MAKE HAMBURGERS. CAN’T YOU READ. FISH AND CHIPS as he pointed to the board which had no prices on there at all other than the words Fish and Chips.

I got the hose out today…to fill the standalone maze tanks for the potted fruit trees from the big downpipe tank. Makin’ room.

His soil is the same as mine as we share the front lawn. In summer my grass gets fairly yellow, his stays green. By May, there is no difference in how they look after some autumn rains.

    Spiders

A baby huntsman moved in last night. Nice, I want him to eat the bugs. I also hope this one has the commonsense to stay out of range of Melbcat’s punches. (Nothing bad happened to the last one. He was just a dumbarse who had to be evicted for his own safety.)

Have a few regrets not cleaning one of the gutters before last night. Not a happy downpipe.

If there’s one thing that comes up in convos seemingly every time about problems with a house, it’s water.

It giveth life, it taketh time and cash monies.

Watching the guy from Site Inspections it’s nearly always water damage. When it’s not structurally unsound frames or fake Hebel.

The old homes from the 60s and 70s are looking better and better.
