This wasn’t too different in the adaptation. Mrs Tance actually has some lines in the manga, while she has remained silent in the anime. In the anime, she also does not accompany her husband to meet the Governor when they return to the surface. But only this one page of fluff was really left out completely.

I’m actually kind of sad this conversation got left out. You can really see how Mr. Tance feels about the effects the dungeon is having on the island that you don’t really get from his conversation with the governor. One of the great things about Dungeon Meshi is how much the dungeon feels intertwined with characters and the world, that they both affect each other in ways they don’t realize.

It does make Mr Tance feel more like one of the greedy people that he is lamenting here. But the way he talks the governor into supporting the adventurers and paying them well, is still there.
