Did he return to the US after finding in Italy that marriage is still illegal?

      He was in Alabama…

The marriage was already going to be legal, no idea why he fled.

Article claims he was an “expert” on demons and exorcisms though, so I don’t think logic was his strong suit.

He did get fired tho, because he abandoned his duties and apparently it’s a constant fight to keep demons out of Alabama. So that’s just inexcusable apparently

I don’t think he was really fleeing anything except social disapproval. Doesn’t sound like there was any evidence of criminal activity, so it was, for lack of a better term, eloping.

But I’m sure he was grooming her long before any of this happened.

My comment was more of a silly assumption. It’s likely he fled because he feared ripercussions for doing the marriage, but then returned thinking it wasn’t that bad in his mind.

Or maybe he just took a long vacation.

You need parental consent to marry a minor in Alabama, perhaps the parents did not agree to the marriage. According to the article, they didn’t actually get married until after she turned 18.

I wonder what kind of demand he thinks there is for demon/exorcism experts outside the church.

      Wait… it’s not illegal, but it’s not a full-fledged marriage. Don’t underestimate Italy! 🍕🍝🤌
