I was wondering about the name, and if it’s origins are Arabic. It sounds similar to saying جربوعه (Jarboa) where the ع has no way of pronunciation in English.

I looked it up and it’s close! The name is of a hopping desert rodent in North Africa (mainly Arabic speaking countries) and the word comes from يربوع (Yarbu)

I guess it’s dialect based. In North Africa it’s Yarbu, in the middle east it’s Jarbu.

Anyway, it’s a funny word to me and sometimes used as a term of endearment, like to tease someone. Thought I’d share that. :) يا كربيع 😂
