As an autist i gladly listen to your passions while you give me a social cover not to socialize with anyone else.

Your talking about inherent properties of different soil types right? I can see how that appears boring but the thing with details, nothing is ever actually boring.

Also i am subscribing to this community, that was your intention with this post all along was it?

My intent is mostly just to post memes where they fit. This one is hyper-specific to pedology (my background) so it gets posted here.

Yes, soil properties amongst different soil profiles is what this joke is about. To about 99.98% of the population, me explaining the differences between different soil orders (let alone subgroups!; Order>Great Group>Subgroup>Series) is like watching paint dry while having someone pour turpentine into your eyes.

The sidebar has links to soil classification (both American and Canadian systems I believe). There is also a vibrant community of pedologists on IG, from all over the world. You have to kind of work at finding other soil scientists by letting the algorithm do it’s thing once you find one to follow.

Yeah i am barely able to follow but i am listening and intrigued. These highly specialized nerddoms are also what i love about Lemmy as a whole.

Of course there has to different standards for different nations again. Would be to convenient to only have one.

          Nerds are great.

Ask away and I’ll answer but I don’t have anything planned out to further the discussion, as there are heaps of info you to sift through at your leisure and those resources will spur further questions

Oh i am just going to browse a bit and maybe read some wiki pages later. Gaining deeper knowledge of my local natural environment has been on my to do list and to make sure to include soil in that has been noted now.

I hope to see you around, have a nice day!
