Read a book on the Arrow years ago that hinted that it was the only fighter at the time capable of taking out a U-2, and suggesting there was pressure from the US to destroy it so no one else could copy it. The program wasn’t just cancelled. The parts were destroyed; the plans and schematics were destroyed. It was erased from existence.
My understanding is that the host country supplies the feeds for all events. Broadcasters that get the rights to broadcast are choosing what feeds to broadcast, adding their own commentary, doing their own editing. They also film their own “local” interest and interviews. Host countries can’t have each broadcaster fighting over where to place cameras, etc. The sound would have been part of the host country’s live feed. I saw a small snippet of the CBC (Canada) broadcast and the commentators commented on the booing when the feed showed Vance, but it was hard to hear in the broadcast itself. I think the issue is that while the other broadcasters acknowledged it, NBC did not. I did not see the NBC snippet myself.
It means Trump plans to grab us by the p*ssy. He just can’t help himself, and when you’re famous, they let you do it…

Maybe I don’t understand all the variables and factors at play, but it seems counterproductive to deal with Meta for any reason, about anything, and that Canadians are better off finding their news on platforms not controlled by US algorithms.
Rare - and refreshing - to see a politician stand their ground in the face of US lies and bluster. Not a tactful, softened vague response. Just: “No”. Dare I get my hopes up for more plain talking truth in the face of lies?

I don’t know anyone who ramped “down”. We’re still buying local cranberry juice instead of orange, and are quite satisfied with all of our Canadian alternatives and substitutes, and happy to go on for a very long time simply doing without when there isn’t. This is not a fad, or even a protest, at this point. It is simple patriotism. Supporting Canada’s economy to ensure our sovereignty.

Permission to exercise discretion does not mean cyclists will blindly roll through danger. No one is more aware of the risk of cycling in traffic than cyclists. Riding defensively is a necessary state of mind. A rule change will have no effect on that.
I think you are vastly exaggerating their authority, but the good news is, we can follow this story and see whether it is a success or gets blocked.
There are physicians in Canada that are employed by corporations - OH&S physicians, for example. The Colleges make sure physicians are practicing ethically and competently, but I don’t think they have any say in relation to whether a Dr is employed or self-employed. What would be the issue?
“Listening” is not approval. The government should want to understand the threat better. Carney is being smart here by wanting to understand the situation he has to deal with.
Not seeing any hint that democracy means anything, or deserves strengthening and protection. Just projection of what the US thinks is power. And the subtle threat that those who see things differently will be treated as threats to be eliminated.
