Couldn’t agree more with you OP. As someone who often got discouraged from posting on Reddit, I’ve been making an effort to post more here and all the responses have been great. I think it helps that we’re all new here and all on this weird journey together. That being said, I’m so happy to be here with all of you!

This is just about the only thing I use Reddit for anymore.

After reading through some posts on the MacRumors Forums, as well as your comments, I’m going to stick with Wipr for the time being. I think I just wasn’t using it properly, but now that I’ve educated myself on it a little bit more (who knew, huh?), it should work fine for my liking. (P.S. I wouldn’t normally make a post like this, but in an effort to be more active here on Lemmy, I figured why not?)
Being able to pick and choose which filters are on/off, or being able to add custom rules are a couple that come to mind. I do have Firefox with uBlock as well, and maybe this is naive, but I’d like to just have 1 browser that can handle everything as opposed to having to pick and choose. Firefox has been that 1 browser for me for a long time, but I really love the little things about Safari like entering my two factor codes for me. Ultimately doing all this for fun though, and if it doesn’t work out I know I can fall back on Firefox + uBlock.
Also with all the changes that are potentially coming to browsers (chromium) not allowing adblocking this is a future proof solution
A big reason why I’m going ahead and trying to make the switch now. I appreciate your detailed response!
Maybe I’m just overthinking the customization aspect - I’ll have to give it another try since I already own it. I appreciate your input!
Replying from Mlem now, really digging it so far. Can’t wait to see what’s coming in the future!
I certainly don’t think Reddit is going away forever, but I do think it will push a lot of the OG users out for sure. I just deleted my 10 yr. old account tonight and am just finding out about Lemmy.
As sad as I am to see it go, I’m excited to be a part of what’s next!
I’ve always been a lurker on that other website, but I’m here to participate. So happy to be apart of the new Lemmy journey!
