emacs with magit and meow are just amazing efficiency add-ons to my workflow. when your tools just get out of your way and keep you in the flow, it’s much easier to stay productive.

CBC doesn’t seem to have a feed for just Vancouver news.
It might be a bit of overload just pulling things from the BC feed and dumping that here: https://rss.cbc.ca/lineup/canada-britishcolumbia.xml
migadu has been pretty solid the last few years and they’ve got some great pricing on plans that’ll be sufficient to host an entire family.
Solidigm (ex-Intel) apparently has a P41 Plus 2230 1TB model that’s decent (p/n: SSDPFPNU010TZ01).
I’ve got a 12th gen running linux and fan noise is pretty significant when I’m pushing the laptop, but it’s usually silent when I’m not pushing it.
Compared to a Macbook Air M1/M2 the laptop is hot and noisy, but really I haven’t found it to be any worse than other non-Apple machines that I’ve used (Lenovo and Acer included).
I expect the Ryzen machines that will be released later this year will be better at keeping the heat down, but that’s hard to at this point.
I bought one of these a few months back around the same price from NewEgg. It’s a great drive with reasonable performance and very low power consumption. It did ship with an old firmware, but it was a pretty quick update with with the tools from the Solidigm support site.
The v1.2.4 release might fix up some of your issues:
Not that it matters much if you’ve already migrated away to a libc distribution.
